The reconstruction of Road No. 206 Šilutė–Rusnė, section from 2.401 km to 7.363 km, has been successfully completed. The project included embankment reinforcement, road structure reconstruction, and the construction of a new viaduct in the flood-prone section.
Key Works Completed:
- Reconstruction of the road structure and embankment reinforcement from 2.401 km to 7.363 km to ensure durability and resistance to seasonal flooding;
- Construction of a new viaduct between 6.190 km and 6.940 km, providing year-round, reliable, and safe access for local residents regardless of flood conditions;
- Installation of a 4.5 km pedestrian and bicycle path, enhancing safety and comfort for both locals and tourists.
This infrastructure upgrade ensures safe access to Rusnė Island, particularly during flood periods, and improves regional mobility, contributing to a better quality of life and increased safety for residents and visitors. The viaduct significantly reduces the risk of road flooding while protecting essential transport infrastructure.
