The implementation of the strategically significant infrastructure project „Rail Baltica” has given a boost to the economy of Jonava city and district
The general contractors of the “Rail Baltica” construction, Fegda and Tilsta, are responsible for the construction of nearly 28 km of railway track, including the construction of the railway embankment, bridges, viaducts, and other necessary railway structures.
Thanks to the project, around 800 new workers have been attracted to the city and district of Jonava, creating new business development opportunities for local residents. This is reported by the Jonava news portal jonavoszinios.lt.
What benefits have local businesses gained from the “Rail Baltica” construction?
- The demand for accommodation services is growing.
- The number of customers in dining establishments has increased.
- The demand for transportation and other related services has risen.
Laimonas Žiemys, the owner of the Jonava cafeteria “Pilnas pilvas,” which provides catering services to “Rail Baltica” construction workers, confirms that business growth is evident.
“We are really happy because such projects bring in extra income, which is a great benefit for both the city and its residents,” says L. Žiemys.
The increased customer flow was also felt by the workers at the Jonava auto repair shop UAB “Rivauta.” “We are happy with the increased turnover and greatly value the “Rail Baltica” workers and their work, so we try to service the equipment brought in as quickly as possible – in this way, we indirectly contribute to the implementation of the project,” says Remigijus Plukas, service manager at UAB “Rivauta.”
